Product Development Manager

This new opportunity is for a position with our private brands team headed by the VP of private brands. In this position you will work hand in hand with the VP of Private Brand to commercialize a product from concept to shelf. Key responsibilities of commercialization include: Communication with formulators to tweak or refine formula used to sell & price out the concept. Re-pricing of formulas as needed to control costs, with regular reporting of changes and label/product impact to VP of PB. Coordination of test runs as needed, with monitoring of the analytic results, pal studies, etc. and storing, organizing and reporting information. Instituting any changes to formulation or ingredients as directed by the VP of PB. Communicating and coordinating label requirements to the customers for all products. Ensuring regulatory compliance is met through direct involvement in packaging; ensuring claims created are supported by formula, etc. Working with internal packaging engineer & packaging companies to ensure proper packaging fit & specs established for each product. Requires: 3 - 5 years of project management experience/ 3 – 5 years of product development experience, in pet food or animal nutrition products is preferred. Some level leadership in projects they have been involved with, including the area of budgetary management and driving projects. Bachelors in a Science related area preferred. Would substitute work experience especially in the above criteria over a formal education. This is a technical job that can receive support from a system of nutritionist and regulatory professionals. Sr. Cost Accountant

Sr. Cost Accountant Position specifically responsible for maintenance of standard cost system, manufacturing accounting and analysis, variance reporting, and accurate bill of materials (BOM)/assemblies in a completely integrated MRP environment. Monitor, record, and analyze margins, cost of sales, and inventory activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting of related financial information. Maintain accurate cost accounting system. Audit responsibility for proper setup of new product SKUS and ingredients into accounting inventory system. Primary responsibility for setting up test run and newly commissioned SKUS on the accounting and inventory systems. Daily manufacturing responsibilities including processing closed work orders and sending out daily operation report to operations. Analyze and report on all ingredient costs, quantity adjustments & manufacturing variances by SKU, customer and profit center. Audit inventory and inventory processes in all locations. Financial Analysis: Assist in the development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to determine operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization. Monitor, record, and analyze margins, cost of sales, and inventory trends to ensure timely and accurate reporting of related financial information and make recommendations for strategic direction at the plant and corporate level. Analyze plant cost and pricing structures and make recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.  Identify trends and recommend improvements accordingly. Qualification Requirements: Minimum of three to five years prior accounting or cost accounting experience; preference will be given to those with applicable experience in cost accounting or manufacturing accounting background. Previous experience with computerized ERP (JDE) system preferred. Advanced, proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytic problem solving and math skills required; display a good understanding of probability and statistics. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality and accuracy. Must be able to present numerical data effectively and be able to read and interpret written complex financial information. Excellent Written and Oral Communication skills required. Demonstrated planning/organizing skills required. Ability to multi-task in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment.

HR Generalist

Serve as an HR generalist, recruiting and payroll professional, both in a lead and in a supportive role.  Perform a variety of HR functions, including (but not limited to) Sourcing, Selection, Orientation, Assimilation, Training and Development, Performance Management, Regulatory and Policy Compliance, Reporting and Tracking, and Payroll. Maintain and update all components of C.J. Foods’ people systems. Serve as an ambassador for CJF in the recruiting process for hourly positions.  Utilize various venues for recruitment, such as seeking out and attending job fairs, through social media, local newspapers, on-line job boards, specialty societies and groups, working with local community colleges and other educational institutions, and the like. Use creativity in the area of recruitment to find new and fresh ways to tap into the workforce. Serve as back-up for bi-weekly payroll processing. Provide assistance to all HR team members in the areas such as research for HRIS systems, job description updates, tracking of documents, safety initiatives, and other HR-related duties. Requires: Bachelor’s degree; or a combination of education and experience may be substituted. Certification (PHR, SPHR) preferred; if not already certified, the incumbent should be working toward obtaining credentials. Two years of HR generalist experience and general knowledge of HR principles and practices. Personal characteristics include the ability to carry a professional demeanor in managing sensitive and confidential information. Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, time management skills. Display enthusiasm, with a positive and can-do attitude with a curiosity to learn and grow in the employee relations and human resources field.  Ability to work independently and/or in a team setting with a collaborative and cooperative spirit; display a high level of energy to work at a fast paced and always changing work environment.  Ability to travel, with some overnight stays required.  Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications, social media, and other web-based software, cloud media and other technologies

Business Analyst

This IT position is responsible for supporting the day to day manufacturing and business operations. Position outcomes are; analyzing and evaluating existing or proposed systems, producing requirements documents for various business development activities, training and supporting users, deploying new systems and enhancements.  Responsibilities of the job include ensuring data integrity, participating in data quality control, and system/process validation.  A cornerstone of this position includes working with business system users on how to efficiently utilize technology in supporting the business.  Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Requires: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field.  An AA degree in Management Information Systems /Accounting; equivalent work experience may be substituted. 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment using business systems ERP software. (Oracle JD Edwards is preferred). Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate technical data to employees outside of the IT department. Knowledge and application of computer programming techniques and principles of system analysis. Knowledge of programming tools, database tools, and analysis software.

Inventory Receiving Clerk

Establish and operate warehouse operation in support of food manufacturing activities. Unload and process items received into the facility in an accurate and timely manner. Prepare accurate, timely documentation and transactions that follow established protocols for receipt, inspection, inventory control, issuance and consumption in support of manufacturing. Support all manufacturing activities as requested including transport of materials, WIP and FG product between C.J. Foods locations. Position available Days (6 am–6 pm). Requires: Education level: high school diploma and/or GED required. Experience in a manufacturing environment is desired. Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals. Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form. Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner. Basic math skills to include addition and subtraction. Ability to multi-task.
 

Inter-facility Courier

The courier will deliver samples, mail, interfaculty memos and correspondence and other equipment or supplies between the sites in Pawnee City, NE and Bern, KS. Couriers will also make trips from one or more of the plants to Omaha to deliver samples each working day. Work Schedule: Couriers will work on Saturdays approximately 5 hours a day with exact times that may vary during the day. Occasional trips to other locations may extend the normal 5 hour work day. Requires: A safe driving record and a valid driver’s license. Couriers will drive their personal vehicle to the CJ Foods plant where they will then take the company car on trips between the facilities and Omaha and Lincoln when required.

 

Inventory Control Coordinator

Responsible for all aspects of inventory control (cycle counting, aging inventories, and staging of materials) as well as being the support for shipping issues.  Prepare accurate, timely documentation and transactions that follow established protocols for receipt, inspection, inventory control, issuance and consumption in support of manufacturing. Support all manufacturing activities as requested including transport of materials, WIP and FG product between C.J. Foods locations. Manage & Coordinate all inner plant transfers. Monitor & Assist with follow disposition for aging/expiration items. Lead & Monitor the staging & restocking process. Coordinate & Report on the new inbound barcoding process. Report & Assemble the regrind schedules and monthly reporting. Set up warehouse locations as needed. Assist plant employees with ST/OT transactions. Assist the Shipping & Receiving Manager on any projects or analysis as needed. Perform other related duties as required. Position available days (Monday through Friday). Requires: High School Diploma required. Two-year college degree in related field preferred.  May substitute experience in accounting for education on a year-for-year basis. Two years prior experience in supply chain required.  Prior accounting experience desirable.  Preference will be given to those with applicable experience. Two years of experience in a lead or supervisor role, leading, assigning work, performance management, and coaching, counseling and disciplining, and approving time cards. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required, especially with Excel. Basic math skills i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages. Maintenance Technician

Supports the manufacturing facilities in all areas of the manufacturing process. Maintains the highest levels of productivity, efficiency, safety, quality, and sanitation. Form, fabricates and assembles components for experimental projects, and repairs and modifies existing machines/equipment/ facilities to ensure reliable, consistent operation according to directions, specifications and approval of supervision. Shift: Positions available day shift (6am to 6pm) and night shift (6pm to 6am).  Requires:  High school diploma/GED.  One year experience in manufacturing environment preferred.  Technical expertise, communication skills, and the ability to problem solve.

Quality Assurance Tech

A Level I QA Technician position is intended to be a “starting” point, from which the technician is expected to advance to capability on both sides of the process before the two year “target”.   The Level I Technician should be capable of the required sampling and testing on either the processing or packaging side of the process with some assistance from the other QA technicians or Leads.  The Level I Technician should have a good working knowledge of Food Safety and Quality policies. A Level II QA Technician understands and is capable of the required sampling and testing on both the extrusion and packaging side of the process with minimal assistance from the other QA Technician or the QA Lead. A Level III QA Technician understands and is proficient at all the various sampling and testing to the level of being a trainer for employees new to the job on both the extrusion and packaging side. The Level III Technician also assists with maintaining the laboratory equipment, verifying and documenting calibrations. QA Technician levels of II and up are also expected to not only know but also promote Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures to other departments on the plant floor.

Food Safety Tech

Perform sanitation tasks from the Master Sanitation Checklist.  Tasks include cleaning inside equipment and at heights, and require use of chemicals, tools, and equipment requiring specific and specialized training.  Perform daily cleaning tasks as assigned by Food Safety Lead.  Keep the plan in a condition that maintains a standard approved by CJ Foods and manufacturing practices.  Inspect for, recognize, report, and correct conditions or presence of stored product pests, i.e. insects, rodents, and birds.  Safely operate forklift, skid loader, bucket lift, and scissor lift to accomplish sanitation tasks.  Shift:  Position available days (6am-6pm).  Requires:  High school diploma/GED.  Food Safety, sanitation and/or housekeeping experience preferred. Basic math skills. Willing to work in a team environment.  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Ability to multi-task.

Warehouse Techs

Ticket and store finished goods in warehouse. Track production to accurately fulfill customer orders.  Scan all materials used during shift. Safely operate forklift accurately and efficiently. Receive finished product form manufacturing lines and ticket by entering into computerized inventory system.  Responsible for inspecting finished product for stack quality, count and lot code accuracy. Operate Stretch Wrapper, Palletizer, and other warehouse equipment. Responsible for becoming familiar with product ticketing and customer requirements for palletization. Know where to get the information and how to interpret it. Able to issue raw ingredients to manufacturing and packaging. Communicate with Packaging Operators on pallet counts to ensure orders are filled correctly. Maintain assigned equipment. Participate in full facility and equipment clean up between product runs, as directed. Positions available on day shift (6am - 6pm). Requires: High School Diploma and/or GED. Experience in a manufacturing environment is desired. Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals. Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form. Packaging Operators

Direct all activities including set-up and operations on assigned packaging line.  Supervise those assigned to the packaging team. Capable of performing all duties outlined for Packaging Line Technicians.  Package product in bags, boxes, or bulk containers; label, and stack on pallets.  Maintain product and packaging quality through visually inspecting finished product. Ensures product, bags, wraps, seals, boxes, and pallets meet highest quality standards.  Immediately report all quality issues to the Production Supervisor.  Participates in full facility and equipment clean-up between product runs, as directed.  Responsible for machine set ups.  Assist with QA data collection and calibrations.  Ensure required paperwork is accurate and complete.  Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.  Shift: Positions available days (6am – 6pm) and nights (6pm - 6am).  Requires:  High School Diploma or GED. Experience in a manufacturing environment desired.  Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and percentages.  Ability to multi-task.

Package Techs

Assist with packaging line set-up and operation.  Package dry and semi-moist products for shipping or specialty packaging.  Maintain product and packaging quality through visually inspecting finished product.  Ensure product, bags, wraps, seals, boxes and pallets meet highest quality standards.  Responsible for immediately reporting all quality issues to the Packaging Lead or Production Supervisor.  Shift: Positions available days (6am - 6pm) and nights (6pm-6am).  Requires:  High School Diploma/GED.  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. **All positions at C.J. Foods, Inc. require employees to work in areas where they may be exposed to temperatures ranging from 50 to 100 degrees, depending on the season and workstation. In addition to climbing up and down vertical ladders, step ladders, and stairs to package and clean, constant walking and standing may also be required for the entire shift length. All production employees must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
